6 Magical Christmas Activities For Children In & Around Teesside

The magic of Christmas is in the air! If you’re looking something to do during the festive season, you may find yourself asking, “what are some Christmas activities that are fun for children around Teeside and Middlesbrough?”

Here, we’ll discuss some of our favourite Christmas events, giving you all the information you need to have a jolly old Christmas time!

Walking with The Snowman trail

This fun walk will take you through the town centre in search of twelve sculptures of snowmen. The snowmen sculptures are inspired by a line from the classic Christmas carol “12 Days of Christmas.” Each sculpture represents one of the days of christmas, including everything from two turtle doves to twelve drummers drumming.

The Snowman trail also includes events like The Lost Little Snowman Design Competition, great local restaurants, and artisinal crafts. Wrap up in your Santa hats and winter scarves for this fun outdoor adventure!

Christmas Walk at Cherry Hill Garden Centre

Beat the cold, nasty weather with this indoor Christmas Walk at Cherry Hill Garden Centre! Here, you’ll walk through amazing Christmas-themed attractions and colorful light displays. Visit Santa’s grotto, and see where Santa plans each Christmas, from making his list to the Elves making toys.

Continuing through the garden centre, and you’ll find the famous singing Yeti and beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Of course it wouldn’t be a visit to Santa’s home without getting an opportunity to feed his reindeer! There are plenty of activities and photo opportunities for the family, and visited at the right time, Santa will even you read a story.

Magical Sleigh Ride at Cherry Hill Garden Centre

You’ll have two adventures to choose from at the Magical Sleigh Ride, hosted by DASH, Santa’s robotic helper. The “World Adventure” experience takes you to test drive Santa’s new automatic sleigh, bringing you through Christmas sights and sounds throughout the world.

This year, the Cherry Hill Garden Centre has added an additional sligh ride, the “Lapland Adventure.” This time, DASH will take you through Santa’s Headquarters. You’ll see everything Santa does to prepare for the most wonderful time of year!

Christmas events at Castle Howard

Castle Howard hosts amazing yearly events during the holiday season. Last year, they hosted a family favorite “Christmas in Narnia,” full of lavish holiday decorations, light installations, and soundscapes. They transported all visitors from the English countryside to the mystical world of Narnia.

This year, the castle is hosting “Into the Woods: A Fairytale Christmas.” The same designers transformed castle rooms into forests and kingdoms from your favorite fairy tales. There are ballroom floors, pumpkins drawn by horse and carriage, and beautiful illuminations and soundscapes. Despite being inspired by class fairy tales, they’re all given a fun Christmas twist!
